Do you know what day it is? Well it's Monday, but it's also Prime Day!
Prime Day is a two-day only global shopping event exclusively for Prime members. The event starts today, July 15 and will continue through Tuesday, July 16.
The first Prime Day was in July 2015. It was originally 24 hours and meant as a celebration for the 20th anniversary of Amazon. Advertised as having more deals than Black Friday, it broke all sorts of Black Friday records with the amount of items sold per second along with gaining even more members to Amazon's Prime subscription.
2016 was an even bigger year for Prime Day with numbers surpassing the first. 2017 was even better will sales being 60% more than Prime Day in 2016. There were a number of new features for Prime Day in 2018 such as Prime Day Launches, Whole Food Deals and Unboxing Prime Day events. The event was a success again with over $100 million products being purchased.
This year's length of Prime Day has been extended, clocking in at two full days as opposed to the 36 hours of the year prior.
